Travelling and exploring the country is part of any international student experience. The UK is equipped with a robust transportation system that allows Students to travel at affordable rates across the country.

  • The Underground tube system in London, National Rail Services and other private companies allows Students to travel for cheap within the UK.
  • Students can save even more on travel by planning your journey in advance and booking tickets for off peak times. Some companies and travel agencies offer special student discount cards which makes travel cheaper and paying for travel extremely convenient.
  • Students can also find cheap accommodation while traveling by checking into traveler hostels located at various parts of the country. Camping is also an excellent way to save on accommodation. Camping equipment of decent quality could cost you somewhere between £70 to £150 pounds and you can find various camping spots which allows you to stay for a fraction of the price of hotel accommodation. It also allows you travel flexibly between places without worrying about booking a hotel or an Airbnb.
  • International students can also apply for a Schengen visa whilst pursuing their education in the UK. A Schengen visa allows Students to travel to all 27 countries within the European union. The application for the Schengen visa is expected to take anywhere between 1-3 months so it is advised that students apply for it as early as possible if you’re planning to travel to Europe. One can also save on air travel by choosing budget airlines such as Ryan Air and booking the tickets well in advance. Applying for a Schengen Visa or any other travel Visa may require you to submit a letter of absence from your university or a letter confirming your student status so it is advised that you communicate with your student support services section of your university before you apply for a visa
