A lot of the international students who come to the UK work part-time jobs to meet their expenses. But, it is not always so easy to manage both studies and work efficiently at the same. Given below are some solutions based on the experience of students:
- Jobs in your university – Your university will be offering part time job positions which gives you complete knowledge and immediate access to university facilities and also keeps you in touch with your faculty. These jobs also pay well. You can find the job listings in the university’s website.
- Stick to your industry – By doing freelance works or enrolling for paid internships, you can improve your craft and earn money at the same time
- Flexible jobs – There are jobs with zero-hour contracts which allows you to work only during free time. One example of such jobs is food courier at Just Eat, which also has good pay per hour and exciting incentive schemes.
- Long shifts – Many part time jobs needs you to be present for work for four or five days of work although the number of working hours for each day will be very low. This takes up a lot of time from your week which you can use to focus on your studies. Try to find jobs that provide long shifts so that you can complete your working hours in two or three days.
- Teamwork – Try to make good connections with your classmates and work together on your coursework. If possible, go to the university, so that you can make use of all the facilities and also clear doubts immediately.
- Less physical labour – Try to find jobs that does not demand a lot of physical labour so that you don’t get exhaused by the time you are free for studies. Examples of such jobs are in the care and support industry.
